More than a beginner's class. Have you been off the mat for a while or not practiced regularly. Do you want to develop your personal practice, enhance your technique, or work on specific possess? Class is designed to provide you the physical and mental grounding for a safe, strong, and injury-free vinyasa flow practice. Re-learn or refine asanas, build strength for vinyasa, while linking breath and movement. Class will be a slow to moderate pace, building upon traditional Ashtanga principles.
This is an all-levels class, requires some exposure to vinyasa yoga. Take a little "me" time at the end of the day. Let go, center your mind and spirit, and feed your sole by engaging your physical and mental being in this class. Expect some balance work to focus the mind, standing and seated asanas including twists and core work, and moderate binds to release the tension in the body. A specific sequence of flowing (vinyasa) asanas (postures), an energetic movement coordinated with the breath as taught by Sri K. Pattahbi Jois, and now Sharath Jois, the current guruji. Ashtanga means "eight limbs" in Sanskrit, which refers to the eight limbs of yoga laid out in the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali. The vinyasa sequence uses breath to build heat and is the foundation for all other flow classes. All yogis welcome. Modifications available for beginners and those unfamiliar with Ashtanga
It's all about the flow. Class is continuous vinyasa movement. Slow Flow, moderate, full Ashtanga classes available. Reconnect your breath and your body with slow gentle series of asanas in a calming candlelight setting. Postures encourage deep relaxation and sleep. This class is perfect for clearing the mind and focusing on what is important, regardless of whether you are an experienced yogi or a beginner. Wind down in a healthy way so you can be your best self. Offered Wednesday evenings at an alternate location. Chinquapin Rec Center postponed.
